UTLA members joined the"May Day Resist" massive march and demonstration of unionized workers who gathered in MacArthur Park to head toward downtown Los Angeles. More than 100 organizations marched down in a display of unity of sustained resistance to the ongoing assault on labor and immigrant rights and our fight against the Trump/DeVos privatization agenda. Thousands marched alongside each other than led to the steps of City Hall where UTLA President Alex Caputo-Pearl spoke to thousands in the crowd.
Demonstrators held signs and chanted showing their resistance to the anti-immigrant Trump agenda. At several schools, UTLA members celebrated May Day by picketing and chanting before the morning bell.
We are keeping up a sustained resistance to the assault on labor and immigrant rights. Educator unions like UTLA are the most effective and powerful force against the Trump/DeVos/CCSA school privatization agenda.
