UTLA, SEIU 99, and AALA members took over Grand Park on March 18 to Fight for LA alongside students, families, and the Los Angeles community. Our massive turnout of 30,000+ at today’s rally demanded the attention of the media and the whole city. We showed LAUSD that we have the collective power to force them to shift their budget priorities and settle a fair contract — and that we are ready to strike April 14 if they don’t.

LAUSD has failed to make any meaningful movement on:

  • Salary (including fixing the broken salary scales with a significant raise for every member at every level)
  • Class size enforcement
  • Limits on subcontracting and AI
  • PSA, PSW, and school psychologist staffing
  • Arts and Physical Education staffing
  • Special Education and inclusion support

LAUSD started off the school year with $5.03 billion in reserves. Since 2022, they’ve committed $10 billion to multi-year private contracts. We will not stand back and accept the crumbs that the district is offering compared to what LAUSD can really afford.
