UTLA members voted 99.5% YES on the healthcare tentative agreement, with 22,144 members voting yes and 109 members voting no.

All 8 LAUSD employee unions stayed united to win a healthcare agreement that provides:

• fully paid healthcare for employees, their families, and retirees for calendar years 2024 and 2025

• preservation of the union-majority Health Benefits Committee

• new equity language to explore potential improvements around gender affirmation care, mental health care, and overall wellness.

The seven other LAUSD employee unions will each hold a vote on the TA in the coming months. UTLA’s major turnout and resounding YES shows the district that we are fiercely united in standing up for our healthcare.

The district quickly folded on their plan to dismantle the Health Benefits Committee — which would have opened the door to low-quality plans and premium contributions from employees and retirees in the future — making it clear that our successful strikes in 2019 and 2023 continue to pay dividends.
