Last week, Citizens of the World Charter (CWC) Educators United voted 100% YES for the United for Better Schools platform of contract demands. A supermajority turnout of CWC educators voted unanimously for demands on class size, staffing, student safety, educator support and respect, stability for students and families, and more. Educators organized a swift campaign to unionize with UTLA earlier this year and won. Now they’re ready to take their demands to the bargaining table. CWC Mar Vista teacher Leslie Libaw is fired up to fight for their demands. “We can’t wait to get to the bargaining table to ensure that our organization starts standing by the values that have long been promised to its students and staff members,” says Libaw.

CWC Silver Lake teacher Brittany Jefferson joined the bargaining team to address educator retention. “Teachers must feel agency when it comes to decision-making in the organization,” says Jefferson. “I look forward to closing some of these gaps throughout the bargaining process.”
