Summer of Resistance: Wellness Wednesdays

9:00am - 7:00pm
06.25.25

Details

UTLA is continuing Wellness Wednesdays as part of the ‘Summer of Resistance’ — a movement bringing together community, labor, and faith organizations to demand an end to the immigration deportation raids, an end to the federal military occupation of Los Angeles, and to demand that local law enforcement stop aiding immigration enforcement.

Join UTLA at Placita Olvera throughout the day, from 9 AM to 7 PM, where we will be making one thousand tissue paper marigolds to represent our beloved community members who have been kidnapped by ICE and the families impacted by family separation (as part of a larger art project to be completed together on July 9).

UTLA will do this EVERY Wellness Wednesday (currently up to July 9) during the 30-day Summer of Resistance, along with the other activities as scheduled below:

ALL DAY: Tissue-paper marigold and button making

8:30 AM: Gabrielino-Shoshone Land Blessing

9AM – 7PM: Wellness lounge by Heart Dept

11AM-12PM: Workshop: Mutual Aid, Patrols, & Collective Safety: Building Community While Fighting Fascism by Teachers Jessica Rodarte & Lupe Cardona

1-2 PM: Wellness workshop by Revolutionary Love Project

3-4 PM: Wellness workshop by The Heart Dept.

4-5:30 PM: Mariachi Pueblo Unido

5:30-7 PM: Music by Ilse Vinyl Records and DJ P-Erre

7 PM: Wellness lounge close out

Placita Olvera will also be the site of various daily activities and events organized by the coalition throughout the 30 days, so stay tuned for more updates.

* “The Heart Dept” is a non-profit community organization dedicated to providing healing services, including massage therapy, Reiki, guided meditation, and more, as well as BIPOC cultural programming at the intersection of arts, wellness, and social justice.
