UTLA is holding Wellness Wednesdays as part of the ‘Summer of Resistance’ — a movement bringing together community, labor, and faith organizations to demand an end to the immigration deportation raids, an end to the federal military occupation of Los Angeles, and to demand that local law enforcement stop aiding immigration enforcement.
Join UTLA at Placita Olvera throughout the day, from 9 AM to 7 PM, where we will be making one thousand tissue paper marigolds to represent our beloved community members who have been kidnapped by ICE and the families impacted by family separation (as part of a larger art project to be completed together on July 9).
UTLA will do this every Wellness Wednesday (currently up to July 9) during the Summer of Resistance, along with other activities.
SCHEDULE TBD
Historic Placita Olvera is serving as the hub for daily activities and a meeting place to launch marches and demonstrations.
* “The Heart Dept” is a non-profit community organization dedicated to providing healing services, including massage therapy, Reiki, guided meditation, and more, as well as BIPOC cultural programming at the intersection of arts, wellness, and social justice.
