05.02.25 Read Time: 1 min MOU Reached on Out-of-Classroom Teachers UTLA reached an MOU with LAUSD this week on-site obligations for out-of-classroom teachers. Impacted UTLA members had been in bargaining with LAUSD for more than a year after the district tried to unilaterally increase the required on-site obligation for all out-of-classroom positions from 6 hours to 8 hours. Under the agreement: Most non-classroom teacher positions (see Attachment A) and school-site counselors may accept a differential if offered to extend their on-site obligation but are not required to do so. Potential acceptance or non-acceptance of the differential shall not be considered in the selection of a candidate. This agreement is effective May 1, 2025. Those who decline the differential will see an adjustment to their June paycheck to reflect that adjustment. Non-classroom teachers who are paid on the T table with an eight-hour on-site obligation who have a part-day absence that qualifies for paid benefit time do not need to cover any time beyond the on-site hours observed by classroom teachers at the site. There will be a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at 6 pm to review the agreement.
