It is with profound sadness that we honor the life and legacy of Prishay Wilson, a dedicated educator, respected union leader, and passionate advocate for adult education.

Prishay dedicated many years of service to Harbor Occupational Center, where she served as School Administrative Assistant from 2015 to 2022. During those years, she became a trusted member of the school community, supporting students, faculty, and staff with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Her commitment to education and her desire to make an even greater impact inspired her to pursue a new path in the classroom.

In 2022, Prishay made a remarkable career transition by becoming a Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Harbor Occupational Center. She embraced her new role with the same enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to student success that had distinguished her throughout her years of service as a classified employee.

Before becoming a teacher, Prishay was actively involved with SEIU Local 99, advocating for and supporting her fellow classified employees. After entering the teaching profession, she continued her dedication to serving others through United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA), where she proudly served as Chapter Chair at Harbor Occupational Center, representing and advocating for her fellow educators.

Prishay was also a valued member of the Adult Education Virtual Academy (AEVA), where she helped support the development and growth of innovative online learning opportunities for adult students. In 2023, she represented AEVA as a presenter at the Digital Leadership Academy (DLAC) alongside Principal Bernadine Gonzalez and ESL instructor Josh Eick. During the presentation, she shared AEVA’s vision for expanding educational access, improving student persistence, and using technology to better serve adult learners.

Her work was also recognized by the Outreach and Technical Assistance Network (OTAN), where she contributed to advancing instructional technology and innovative practices in California’s adult education community.

Those who knew Prishay will remember her not only for her professionalism and leadership but also for her kindness, warmth, humor, and unwavering willingness to help others. Whether serving students, supporting colleagues, or advocating for fellow employees, she approached every role with integrity, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Prishay’s legacy will live on through the countless students she inspired, the colleagues she supported, and the lasting contributions she made to Harbor Occupational Center, adult education, and the labor movement.

May she rest in peace.
