Franklin, who represents many schools in the Harbor Area, is one of two board members who refused to sign a commitment to advocate for an immediate resolution to contract negotiations that aligns with our key bargaining priorities. Also not signing is Nick Melvoin. The five board members who signed the pledge are Kelly Gonez, Karla Griego, Sherlett Hendy Newbill, Rocío Rivas, and Scott Schmerelson. San Pedro High School was one of the schools leafleting families this week, connecting with parents one-on-one and urging them to email Franklin to invest today’s dollars in today’s students. “UTLA members at San Pedro High School are doing what’s necessary to get a contract that best serves our community,” San Pedro Chapter Chair Jennifer Ritz said.
