Lettie attended Carter G. Woodson School from first to 12th grade due to segregation laws at the time. In spite of her delay, she excelled in school and graduated. In 1956 she moved to Los Angeles, where she joined Village Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend L.M. Curtis Sr. She was a member of the usher board, member of several missionary circles, and member of Los Angeles District Association. She attended Los Angeles City College and graduated Cal State Los Angeles, where she achieved multiple degrees for teaching. While in college she joined Delta Phi Beta Sorority. After graduating she taught at Cold Water Canyon Elementary School, Miramonte Elementary School, Hooper Elementary School, and LA Academy, from where she retired in 2009. She had a love for sports, poetry, westerns, gospel music, and her favorite TMZ. Her love for cinnamon raisin English muffins, sweets, chicken wing tips (extra crispy) and green tea were her simple pleasures. She volunteered at multiple shelters, donated clothes and shoes to women and children, fed the homeless, and mentored many youths throughout her lifetime. In 1962 she married Eulah B. Nash and into this union were born three children: Keith Charles Nash, Kevin Charles Nash, and Frieda Lanette Nash. Also, to this union Eulah B. raised Lettie’s sons Richard Williams and Alfonso Green. Preceding her in death were parents Ollie (Doke) Jones and Viola Westbrooks-Jones, Eulah B. Nash, three sons Alfonso Green, Richard Williams, and Keith Nash, and four siblings Severa Lee Jones, Herbert Ezell Jones, Birda Lee Dudley, and Dovie Lewis. Left to cherish her memories are son Kevin Charles Nash and daughter Frieda Lanette Nash; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; her best friend from childhood to death, Louise Morgan Fisher; and the joys of her life, Derrell Sterling, Amir Sterling, Blake Dotson, and her #1 niece, Leslie Ann Dudley.
