CTA State Council of Education is the top policy-making body of the California Teachers Association. CTA State Council develops legislation, makes recommendations in general elections, advocates for educator rights and funding, and amplifies voices against corporate charter schools and privatization. State Council acts as CTA’s policy-making body, meeting four times a year. Each representative is expected to serve on a standing committee that debates business items involving academic freedom, civil rights, political action, teachers’ rights, statewide negotiation issues, and more. As a State Council representative, you also vote for CTA’s statewide officers.

Note about the runoff election for CTA State Council:  The number of delegate seats in the runoff is 32. Retirees whose seats had not been officially vacated were inadvertently added. Those seats have been removed and will be run in the fall after the appropriate notification to CTA to vacate those seats has been completed.
