On Monday night, the 140-member UTLA Bargaining Team met with LAUSD over Zoom for the third bargaining session of the Win Our Future contract campaign. After presenting our full package of proposals in session 1 and 2, we saw some initial positive movement from the district on a few items.

However, while they engaged on some of the less costly and controversial articles, the district brought a proposal to the table that seems to limit the union rights of Chapter Chairs to take release time for organizing with and supporting UTLA members. This move by the district is a direct attack on the collective strength in our schools. We will reject any attempt to weaken educator power in our school sites.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Monday, March 24.

We know from our collective experience that it will take our organized power to force LAUSD to move on salary, staffing, workload and the other critical demands of the Win Our Future platform.  Make sure you talk to your Chapter Chair to sign the Win Our Future petition to commit to that struggle.
